American Apparel has my HEART
Just a few select delecacies from their gorgeous collection of high quality wares. Much thanks to William Sledd, Gala Darling, and Karla Deras for this newfound obession.
Cotton Spandex Jersey Bandeau Dress The seemingly perfect LBD (or frock of your color choice), worn more ways than imaginable..halter style, as a skirt, strapless, casual, formal, whatever. My current top favorite.
Cotton Spandex Jersey High Waisted Skirt A teensy dress/high wasited skirt/micromini all wrapped in scrumptious trademark jersey fabric. Yum.
Cotton Spandex Jersey Double U-Neck Dress Spotted on the frame of Karla Deras, I'm smitten with the clean line and trim fit.
Opaque Over-the-Knee Sock Ideal for (almost) covering up an days when boots and a skirt just won't cover it.
California Fleece Pullover Raglan Hoody Dress My definition of the perfect hoodie; long, warm, soft, and cute.
For those of you with a severe aversion to American Apparel, allow me to ease your fears. There's plenty of reasons to love this place. Not only is their online store extensive and easy to use, they offer something few other stores do; a variety of basics in a rainbow of hues. They even have slightly different versions and fabrics of multiple pieces they sell, increasing your chances of being satisfied more sufficiently with your purchase. I personally love the fact that you are able to write a reveiw for the pieces on their site, which makes finding out the little issues and added plusses only a real person can disclose easy and saves you a trip to the store to try things on.
Oh, and as for pricing. I'll admit, their things are expensive at best, ridiculous at worst. And though I've yet to attain a garment of my own to test and examine mercilessly, most pieces in general are timeless in style, flattering for different looks and interpretations, and just far too versatile to be considered one-outfit-wonders. I mean, think about it. Buy three dresses at thirty dollars each or buy one AA dress that can be worn ten different ways for sixty bucks. Not only that, but their sale items are VERY resonably priced, but still fantastic.
Not enough? Notice how sixty percent of the listed desirables start with the title "Cotton Spandex". Cotton is, of course, soft and versatile, while spandex spells out stretchy, form-fitting attire.
No wonder a new love for American Apparel has won me over.
